XIX B-MRS Meeting receives 49 symposium proposals from 18 different countries.

logo 19 encontroForty-nine (49) proposals were submitted by the international scientific community within the XIX B-MRS Meeting + IUMRS ICEM symposium call. The number of submissions is one of the largest in the history of B-MRS events. “We received proposals from 18 different countries,” says Professor Gustavo Dalpian, chair of the event.

The organizing committee is already working on the analysis of the proposals, in order to solve cases of thematic overlap and to ensure the symposia are adequate to the structure of the event. When necessary, the committee will contact the authors of the proposals. The final list of symposia will be announced as soon as possible on the event websiteB-MRS website, B-MRS Newsletter and social media. In February 2020, the abstract submission will be opened.

About the event

The event, which will be held from August 30 to September 3, 2020 at the Rafain Palace Hotel in Foz do Iguaçu (Brazil), will bring together the nineteenth edition of B-MRS annual meeting and the seventeenth edition of the international conference on electronic materials organized every two years by IUMRS.

In addition to symposia oral and poster presentations, the program will include plenary lectures by leading scientists such as Alex Zunger (University of Colorado Boulder, USA), Edson Leite (LNNano, Brazil), Hideo Hosono (Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan), John Rogers (Northwestern University, USA), Luisa Torsi (Università degli Studi di Bari “A. Moro”, Italy) and Tao Deng (Shanghai Jiaotong University, China).

The event is coordinated by professors Gustavo Martini Dalpian (UFABC) in the general coordination, Carlos Cesar Bof Bufon (LNNANO) in the program coordination and Flavio Leandro de Souza (UFABC) as general secretary. At the international committee, the event features scientists from America, Asia, Europe and Oceania.

The Brazilian Materials Research Society (B-MRS/SBPMat) and the International Union of Materials Research Societies (IUMRS) invite the international scientific community to submit symposium proposals.

logo 19 encontroUntil October 31st NOVEMBER 18th 2019, the call for symposium proposals is open for the event that will bring together the XIX B-MRS Meeting (the annual B-MRS event) and the IUMRS – ICEM 2020 (seventeenth edition of the International Conference on Electronic Materials). The event will be held from August 30 to September 3, 2020 in Foz do Iguaçu (Brazil), a tourist town near the border with Argentina and Paraguay, which serves as a base for visits to the stunning Iguazu Falls and to others attractions in the surroundings.

Symposium proposals may be submitted by groups of researchers, preferably of international composition, who wish to organize a thematic symposium within the event. The conference will have a special focus on electronic materials due to the realization of IUMRS-ICEM. However, as in all editions of the B-MRS Meeting, the event will cover a wide range of materials science and technology topics. The organizers therefore welcome symposium proposals on topics relating to all types of materials, from synthesis to applications.

The symposia will be the main focus of the event with plenary lectures, which will feature internationally renowned scientists such as Alex Zunger (University of Colorado Boulder, USA), Edson Leite (LNNano, Brazil), John Rogers (Northwestern University, USA) , Luisa Torsi (Università degli Studi di Bari “A. Moro”, Italy) and Tao Deng (Shanghai Jiaotong University, China).

Symposium proposals will be evaluated by the event committee, and by the end of 2019 the list of approved symposia will be released. In February 2020, the call for papers will be opened, which should be submitted within the scope of the thematic symposia. Symposium organizers will be responsible for evaluating the submitted abstracts and scheduling the symposium.

The joint event XIX B-MRS Meeting + IUMRS – ICEM 2020 is coordinated by professors Gustavo Martini Dalpian (UFABC) as the Conference Chair, Carlos Cesar Bof Bufon (LNNANO) as the Program Chair and Flavio Leandro de Souza (UFABC) as General Secretary. At the international committee, the event features scientists from America, Asia, Europe and Oceania.

The latest editions of the B-MRS Meeting brought together between 1,100 and 2,000 participants from various countries around the world, who presented their contributions within the symposia.

XVIII B-MRS Meeting: Call for symposia proposals remains open until November 18.

Until October 31, NOVEMBER 18, 2018 (NEW DEADLINE), the Brazilian Materials Research Society (B-MRS) is receiving proposals of thematic symposia to compose the XVIII B-MRS Meeting.

The event will be held from September 22 to 26, 2019, in the city of Balneário Camboriú (State of Santa Catarina, Brazil), at the Hotel Sibara Flat & Conventions. The meeting will be coordinated by professors Ivan H. Bechtold and Hugo Gallardo, both from Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) .

Symposia proposals can be submitted by groups of PhD researchers from Brazil or abroad, working in education and research institutions or companies, who wish to organize a symposium on a particular subject of Materials Science and Technology, within the XVIII B- MRS Meeting Program.

Proposals must be filled online at http://sbpmat.org.br/proposed_symposium/, and should include the title and scope of the symposium, list of topics covered, organizers data and preliminary list of invited speakers. The date of publication of the approved proposals will be announced shortly.

Thematic symposia, proposed and organized by members of the scientific community, are the axis of the B-MRS meetings. Scientific contributions, both in oral and poster sessions, are presented by the symposia participants. The 2018 meeting, held in Natal (RN), had 21 symposia with 1,600 oral and poster presentations, comprising the development, manufacture and characterization of different types of materials (nanomaterials, conductive polymers, advanced metals, composites, metallic oxides, electroceramics, biomaterials, surfaces, coatings) and their applications in segments such as energy, aerospace, health, electronics, bioelectronics, photonics, aumototive and decorative. More than 1,100 professionals and students participated in the 2018 edition of the event.

Call for symposium proposals for the XVII Brazilian MRS Meeting (Natal – RN, Brazil).

logo-natal.jpgSymposium proposals for the XVII Brazilian MRS Meeting can be submitted from October 31st, 2017 to January 31st, 2018.

The meeting will take place at the Praiamar Natal Hotel & Convention Center, located at the Ponta Negra Beach, Natal, RN, from September 16th to 20th, 2018. The meeting chair is Prof. Antonio Eduardo Martinelli (Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte).

Proposals may be submitted by any PhD professor or researcher affiliated to a Higher Education and/or a Research Institution in Brazil or abroad, in any current field of Materials Science and Engineering. A submission form is available at http://sbpmat.org.br/proposed_symposium/.

Está aberta, até o dia 29 de novembro, a chamada de propostas de simpósios temáticos para o XIII Encontro da Sociedade Brasileira de Pesquisa em Materiais (SBPMat). O evento será realizado em João Pessoa (PB), no Centro de Convenções, de 28 de setembro a 2 de outubro de 2014.

As propostas de simpósios podem ser apresentadas por qualquer pessoa com título de doutor ligada a uma instituição de ensino e/ou pesquisa do Brasil ou do exterior. Todos os temas da área de Ciência e Engenharia de Materiais podem ser objeto de uma proposta de simpósio.

As propostas de simpósios devem ser realizadas mediante o preenchimento do formulário disponível no site da SBPMat com a descrição do escopo do simpósio, a relação dos temas abrangidos, a lista tentativa de palestrantes convidados e os nomes e contatos dos organizadores do simpósio. O formulário deve ser enviado para o e-mail secretaria@sbpmat.org.br até o dia 29 de novembro de 2013.

As propostas apresentadas serão avaliadas pela Comissão de Eventos da SBPMat, juntamente com os organizadores do XIII Encontro, e submetidas à diretoria da Sociedade. A previsão de definição da lista de simpósios aprovados para o XIII Encontro da SBPMat é em dezembro de 2013.

Os simpósios temáticos são, tradicionalmente, o eixo principal da programação dos eventos anuais da SBPMat. Neste ano, no encontro anual, realizado em Campos do Jordão de 29 de setembro a 3 de outubro, foram apresentados cerca de 1.800 trabalhos, entre orais e pôsteres, dentro dos 16 simpósios sobre temas como materiais para eletrônica e fotônica, materiais para energia, biomateriais, nanomateriais, estruturas supramoleculares, materiais orgânicos, técnicas de caracterização, teoria e simulação, entre outros.

Está aberta até o dia 23 de novembro a chamada de propostas de simpósios para o XII Encontro da SBPMat. O evento será realizado em Campos do Jordão, no Convention Center, de 29 de setembro a 3 de outubro de 2013.

As propostas de simpósios para o evento de 2013 podem ser apresentadas por qualquer pessoa com título de doutor ligada a uma instituição de ensino e/ou pesquisa do Brasil ou do exterior. Todos os temas da área de Ciência e Engenharia de Materiais podem ser objeto de uma proposta de simpósio. Cada simpósio deverá formar um comitê científico para avaliar os trabalhos submetidos.

Interessados em propor simpósios devem preencher o formulário disponível no site da SBPMat e enviá-lo, por correio eletrônico, para o e-mail secretaria@sbpmat.org.br até o dia 23 de novembro de 2012. As propostas apresentadas serão avaliadas pela Comissão de Eventos da SBPMat, juntamente com os organizadores do XII Encontro, e submetidas à diretoria da Sociedade.

Os simpósios temáticos são, tradicionalmente, um eixo importante da programação dos eventos anuais da SBPMat. O encontro realizado em setembro deste ano contou com 16 simpósios, que tiveram 1.817 trabalhos aceitos para apresentações orais e pôsteres.
