President

Ivan Helmuth Bechtold. Full Professor at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). He works in organic and hybrid systems for applications in optoelectronic devices such as OLEDs, OFETs, OPVs and biosensors. CNPq Productivity Scholar – Level 1C. Bachelor in Physics from UFSC (1997), Master (2000) and PhD in Physics (2004) from USP. At B-MRS, he was Scientific Director (2019 to 2021), Financial Director (2022 to 2023), and President (2024 to 2025). Representative of the Iberoamerican Society of Complex Fluids at the International Liquid Crystal Society (ILCS) for 2020-2024. Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Physics at UFSC from 2015 to 2021.


Director of Administration, Finance and Assets

Ieda Maria Garcia dos Santos. Full professor at the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB). She works in the synthesis of oxides by chemical methods and their application in catalysis processes for fuel production and environmental remediation through photocatalysis, with a focus on emerging contaminants. CNPq Productivity Scholar – level 1C. Materials engineer (1994) with a master’s degree (1997) and doctorate (2000) in Chemistry from UFSCar. She is a member of the CNPq Advisory Committee in Mining and Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. At B-MRS, she served five terms as Scientific Director and twice as financial director, in addition to coordinating the XII B-MRS Meeting, held in João Pessoa in 2014.


Scientific Directors

Ana Sofia Clímaco Monteiro D’Oliveira – UFPR. Full Professor at the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR). Her work focuses on the study of advanced materials, primarily aiming at their application in the manufacturing and coating of mechanical components exposed to high service temperatures. She is a CNPq research productivity fellow – level 1D. She holds a degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from the Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal (1989) and a PhD in Metallurgy and Materials from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom (1993). At UFPR, she coordinated the postgraduate programs in Materials Science and Engineering and in Mechanical Engineering, and was the coordinator of Research and Development in Science and Technology from 2017 to 2024.

Felipe Bohn – UFRN. Full Professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). He works in the area of ​​nanostructured magnetic materials, magnetization dynamics and spintronics, involving experimental techniques, theoretical modeling and simulations. CNPq research productivity fellow – level B. Associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Magnetics. Elected member of the 2025-2027 administrative committee of the IEEE Magnetics Society. Bachelor’s (2003), Master’s (2005) and PhD (2009) degrees in Physics from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM). He was coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Physics at UFRN from 2019 to 2023.

Ingrid Távora Weber. Associate Professor at the University of Brasília (UnB). She works in the field of luminescent and photoactive materials for environmental and forensic applications. Productivity Scholar from CNPq – level 2. Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from UFPE (1997) with a master’s degree in Chemistry (1999) and a PhD in Chemistry (2002) from UFSCar. At UnB, she is a member of the Research Laboratory on Games and Playful Activities in Chemistry Teaching (LUDEQ). She was an assistant professor at UFPE between 2006 and 2010 . She coordinated the Postgraduate Course in Chemistry at UnB.

Lucas Fugikawa Santos. Associate Professor at the State University of São Paulo (UNESP) – Rio Claro campus, head of the Physics Department and associate researcher at the Center for Environmental Studies. He works on the development and electrical characterization of electronic, optoelectronic devices and sensors made from organic semiconductors, ionic conductors, metal oxides and carbon compounds. Productivity scholar from CNPq – level 2. Bachelor’s degree in Physics (1995) with master’s degree (1998) and doctorate (2003) in Applied Physics from IFSC-USP. Chairman of the XXII B-MRS Meeting (Santos, 2024).

Rossana Mara da Silva Moreira Thiré.Associate Professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). She works in the area of ​​polymeric biomaterials, biodegradable plastics, and 3D printing. CNPq research productivity fellow – level 2. President 2025-2027 of the Latin American Society of Biomaterials and Artificial Organs (SLABO). Chemical engineer (1995) with a master’s degree in Chemical and Biochemical Process Engineering (1998) and a doctorate in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2003) from UFRJ. She coordinated the undergraduate courses in Materials Engineering and Metallurgical Engineering at UFRJ between 2015 and 2017. She was a member of the ABNT Special Study Committee on Additive Manufacturing (ABNT/CEE-261).
