The Brazilian Materials Research Society (B-MRS) deeply regrets the recent fires at the Brazilian Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), which affected buildings and scientific research laboratories.
Beyond the undeniable material loss of research equipment, this tragedy impacts scientific work through the irreparable loss of samples accumulated over decades.
B-MRS supports all investigations aimed at clarifying the causes of the fires, stands in solidarity with the affected researchers and students, and hopes that public authorities will restore working conditions as soon as possible.
