From October 8th through 12th, 2006, we will have the pleasure of meeting colleagues from Brazil and abroad in Costão do Santinho Resort and SPA in Florianopolis at the 5th Brazilian Materials Research Society Meeting (SBPMat).

The annual SBPMat Meeting, now in its fifth edition, is the most comprehensive multidisciplinary Brazilian international conference in Materials Science and Engineering. This conference is an opportunity to bring together researchers from materials science and from materials engineering to discuss important scientific and industrial issues. This integration of researchers from different fields of expertise and diverse backgrounds brings the necessary multidisciplinarity for the advancement of materials science and engineering

According to the already well-established tradition observed in previous annual SBPMat meetings, the 5th Meeting will provide a very stimulating environment for the discussion of themes of multidisciplinary interest in materials science and egineering research, in the form of symposia and thematic workshops, which are listed in the “Scientific Program“. The abstract submission is open until June 20th.

The Organizing Committee of the 5th Brazilian MRS Meeting warmly welcomes members and non-membres of the SBPMat to be an active part of this scientific event that represents an important step in the advancement of our Scientific Society. The choice of Florianopolis as the venue for the meeting is evidence of the national dimension of the activities in materials science and engineering in our country, not only due to the high quality research developed in local institutions, but also because of the diversity and wide scope of materials science and engineering activities in southern Brazil.

The Organizing Committee is honored with the presence of our colleagues, from Brazil and abroad, and greets them all with a most warm welcome. We expect that in October 2006 we will all have a very exciting scientific event and we will also have an opportunity for reporting and discussing the progresses that our community has been able to achieve in the development of the fields of materials science and engineering.
