SYMPOSIUM C
BIOCOMPATIBLE MATERIALS
The research in biocompatible materials is one of the most
active in materials science. As consequence, a large diversity of new materials
based on metals and alloys, advanced ceramics, polymers and composites have been
developed to replace parts of living body and to reconstruct vital functions.
More recently, a new generation of intelligent biomaterials has also been
proposed and designed for applications in tissue engineering as well as drug
delivery system.
The aim of this symposium is to present recent advances in the development of
biomaterials, their interaction with living tissue and their uses in clinical
applications. This symposium invites scientists and students from different
areas such as engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, medicine and dentistry
to present and discuss their findings in areas related to biomaterials science
and technology and especially on the following topics:
Synthesis, Processing and Characterization of biomaterials;
Ceramics, metals, polymers and composites;
Mechanical and Chemical Properties;
Surfaces, Interfaces and Coatings;
Biomaterials Modeling and Prototyping;
Biomechanics; ·Biomimetics Biomaterials;
Protein and Growth Factors Adhesion and Cell Response;
Biomaterials Interaction with Cells and Tissues;
In Vitro and In Vivo Behavior;
Nanostructured Biomaterials;
Biomaterials for Drug Delivery;
Scaffolds for Tissue Regeneration and Tissue Engineering;
