In a study performed in Brazil, scientists were able to radically modify the optical properties of a semiconductor nanomembrane by promoting its spontaneous rolling-up, forming a tube. The discovery is expected to impact the engineering of light-emitting devices for the future of communications. The work was recently reported on ACS Applied Nano Materials.
