We interviewed Angelo Fernando Padilha, professor at the Polytechnic School of USP. \u00a0Padilha graduated in the first group of Materials Engineering in Latin America (UFSCar) and\u00a0continued his research career in Brazil and Germany. Since the 1970s he has worked in research, development and innovation in materials for nuclear reactors and in metals. He recently chaired the Brazilian National Nuclear Energy Commission (CNEN). He is the author of textbooks in the field of materials that are well known in the country. In the interview, Padilha, who belongs to SBPMat’s group of founders, spoke about\u00a0the challenges of the nuclear segment for the materials area, besides speaking about his career\u00a0and lefting a message for the young researchers.
