The study of the structure and function of these biological polymers has been an important area of research by biophysicists. A large and growing community of chemists, chemical engineers, physicists, and materials scientists have been investigating the self-assembly of peptides for many purposes, from creating new bionanomaterials to forming assemblies for drug delivery.
