How was the XIII SBPMat Meeting: reports, pictures, videos and presentation files.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Approximately 2,000<\/strong> oral presentations and posters, 105<\/strong> invited lectures. Coming from 20 countries<\/strong> around the world and from the 5 regions of Brazil, 1,650 <\/strong>attendants – 15%<\/strong> more than in the last edition. We went beyond the numbers and reported, with texts and pictures, some of the most important moments<\/strong> in the intense program of the event. Here.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

During the 7 plenary lectures<\/strong> of the XIII SBPMat Meeting, internationally renowned scientists<\/strong> presented world-class science and talked about its impact on society<\/strong>. LEDs<\/strong>, organic electronics<\/strong>, quasicrystals<\/strong>, materials for nanomedicine<\/strong> and computer simulations<\/strong> were the main themes discussed. We present to our readers a brief account of each lecture, pictures of our plenary speakers and files from the presentations<\/strong>, kindly provided by the lecturers. Here.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

The 19 symposia<\/strong> this year approached a universe of subjects: new materials, traditional materials, processing and analysis techniques, applications in several fields, technology transference… Among their coordinators<\/strong>, the event recorded researchers from universities, research institutes and companies from Brazil and other 7 countries<\/strong>. We shared videos here with brief testimonials<\/strong> from some of these coordinators on their symposia. Watch here.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

In the XIII Meeting, SBPMat launched the document “Science impact. A special report on materials science in Brazil”<\/strong>, produced by IOP<\/strong> jointly with SBPMat<\/strong>. Distributed for the very first time for all attendants, the document, in English, provides the world with a current panorama on materials research in Brazil. Learn more.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Also during the meeting, 30 young researchers attended a historic moment: the first meeting<\/strong> of SBPMat’s University Chapters<\/strong> program. The 4 established chapters presented themselves, and SBPMat leaders talked to the students. Learn more.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Bernhard Gross Award 2014: 20 young researchers awarded for presenting the best works in the symposia of the XIII SBPMat Meeting.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Among the 20 winners, the best oral presentation and the best poster of all the XIII SBPMat Meeting were chosen. The award ceremony<\/strong> was carried out on the last day of the event. We release the list of the award-winning works and authors, and pictures of the granting of the certificates. Here.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

The Bernhard Gross Award for the best work<\/strong> presented in an oral session<\/strong> was given to Juliana Eccher<\/strong>, for her pioneering research<\/strong>, in Brazil, on the use of liquid crystals <\/strong>as organic semiconductors<\/strong>, developed during her doctoral studies at UFSC, jointly with several international collaborators. Andr\u00e9 Luiz Maia de Azevedo<\/strong> received the Bernhard Gross Award to the\u00a0best poster <\/strong>in the XIII SBPMat Meeting for the work he developed during his master studies in UFF. Graduated in Pharmacy, and a professional in the field, Andr\u00e9 managed to achieve what he sought: decrease costs<\/strong> and overcome limitations<\/strong> in the existing techniques for drug analysis<\/strong>, developing a graphite and epoxy composite<\/strong>, used as an electrode<\/strong> inside the electrochemical cell. XIV SBPMat Meeting: Let’s save the date!<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Coordinated by Professor Marco Cremona<\/strong> (PUC-Rio), the fourteenth edition of the annual SBPMat meeting will be held in Rio de Janeiro<\/strong>, from September 27th to October 01st<\/strong>, 2015<\/strong>, at Centro de Conven\u00e7\u00f5es SulAm\u00e9tica – a modern venue, with easy and quick access from any quarter of the “Marvelous City”.<\/p>\n
