In its first edition, the award will be sponsored by the publisher MDPI. Based on the electrochemical deposition of silver nanoparticles, the method was effective in situations where conventional processes have limitations: aged fingerprints and wet\/ colored \/ different textured surfaces. The nanoparticles are deposited in the regions of the metal that do not have residue left by the finger, thus forming a negative image of the fingerprint, with high contrast. The work was led by researchers from UFAL and had the participation of the Federal Police and authors from IFAL and the University of Leicester (United Kingdom).
