Memorial Lecture Joaquim da Costa Ribeiro<\/h3>\n

Established in 2011, this honor is aimed at senior researchers with an outstanding trajectory within the Materials research community. The award-winning scientists present a lecture, with a historical perspective, during the opening of the B-MRS Meeting. This award lecture pays tribute to Joaquim da Costa Ribeiro<\/strong><\/a>, pioneer of experimental research in Materials in Brazil.<\/p>\n

    Jose Arana Varela Award<\/h3>\n

    This\u00a0B-MRS award, launched in 2019, is bestowed annually upon a researcher from a Brazilian institution, with an established career, who stands out for the scientific or technological results he\/ she achieved in the area of Materials and related areas and\/or for his\/ her contributions to our community. The award winner is invited to present his\/ her main contributions in a plenary talk at the B-MRS Meeting. Through the name, this distinction pays homage to Prof. Jos\u00e9 Arana Varela, prominent Brazilian materials scientist and former president of B-MRS, who died in 2016.<\/p>\n

    To date, the following researchers have given this award lecture:<\/p>\n

    1. Prof.\u00a0Edson Roberto Leite<\/strong>\u00a0(UFSCar and LNNano – CNPEM). The award was delivered in\u00a02021<\/strong>\u00a0during the XIX B-MRS Meeting,\u00a0that was held online.<\/li>\n
    2. Prof.\u00a0Daniel Mario Ugarte<\/strong>\u00a0(IFGW – Unicamp).\u00a0Delivered in\u00a0Foz do Igua\u00e7u,\u00a0on September 27,\u00a02022<\/strong>,\u00a0during the XX B-MRS Meeting.<\/li>\n
    3. Prof. Fernando L\u00e1zaro Freire Junior<\/strong> (PUC-Rio). Lecture held on October 3, 2023<\/strong>, during the XXI B-MRS Meeting in Macei\u00f3.<\/li>\n
    4. Prof.\u00a0Bluma Guenther Soares<\/strong> (IMA – UFRJ). Lecture held on September 30, 2024<\/strong>, during the XXII B-MRS Meeting in Santos.<\/li>\n
    5. Prof. Dulce Maria de Ara\u00fajo Melo<\/strong> (UFRN). Lecture held on September 29, 2025<\/strong>, during the XIV B-MRS Meeting in Salvador.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Bernhard Gross Awards<\/h3>\n

      Created in 2012, this award is aimed at students. The Bernhard Gross Awards highlight the best works (one oral and one poster) of\u00a0each B-MRS Meeting symposium presented by undergraduate or graduate students. At the end of\u00a0the event, in an emotional ceremony, the young people receive their certificates. The selection is based on the evaluation carried out by the organizers of each symposium using criteria defined by the\u00a0B-MRS Awards Committee. To compete for these awards it is necessary to submit an extended abstract. The name of the award is a tribute to scientist Bernhard Gross<\/a><\/strong>, a pioneer of Materials research in Brazil.<\/p>\n

      Among the winners of the Bernhard Gross Award, the B-MRS Awards Committee selects the top-ranked works to receive prizes sponsored by the publishers of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).<\/p>\n
