The Symposium on Applications of Lasers in Materials Processing will gather experts from academia and industry for exchanging information and experience on research and innovation on the use of lasers to process materials. The applications of lasers in materials science and engineering have grown recently, with new research groups and graduate courses dedicated to this topic. In Brazil, the economic role of lasers is huge, particularly in some manufacturing processes and dentistry. The Symposium will cover a broad range of topics, from fundamental aspects of the laser-matter interactions to state-of-the-art laser applications in manufacturing, materials analysis and biomedicine. It is expected that the Symposium will serve as a suitable forum for networking among materials research groups, in addition to stimulate technology transfer among the participants.
