SYMPOSIUM I - MICROANALYSIS AND ANALYTICAL MICROSCOPY OF MATERIALS (co-sponsored by SBMM as part of the 9th Micromat (Brazilian Symposium on Materials Microscopy)

Analytical microscopy introduced a revolution in microanalysis, in materials characterization and it gave a new dimension and scope to the electron and scanning probe microscopies. Its impact grows continuously and this symposium will cover the applications of electron-energy loss spectroscopy (EELS), X-Rays and other spectral measurements to elemental and chemical imaging, together with scanning probe techniques. Authors are invited to submit their contributions on any analytical procedures associated to microscopy.

Keywords: Analytical Microscopy, Microanalysis, Elemental Mapping, Chemical Mapping, Multi-probe Imaging

Micromat - Brazilian Symposium on Materials Microscopy - is a biennal meeting of the Brazilian Society for Microscopy and Materials (SBMM). The 9th Micromat will be held together with the Annual Meeting of SBPMat, the Brazilian Materials Research Society. Joint activities will be two thematic symposia, together with oral communication and poster sessions, in October 10-13, 2004.

The Micromat series of meetings has been, together with the SBMM General Meetings held every two years, the major forums for microscopy in materials, in Brazil. They have benefited from the great momentum currently observed on electron, optical, scanning probe and other microscopy techniques, specially as associated to nanotechnology. The association of Micromat to the SBPMat meeting aims at joining forces to achieve maximum results concerning the quality and impact of these meetings."
