Materials for energy conversion and storage


Scope of the Symposium

This symposium is dedicated to contributions regarding the development of materials applied to different forms of energy conversion and energy storage. Research areas related to hydrogen storage, secondary batteries, solar cells, photo-electrochemistry, fuel cells, catalysis and electrocatalysis, investigated by means of theoretical or experimental approaches, are welcome. Special emphasis is devoted to advanced materials and nanostructures for energy-related applications. This symposium brings together Brazilian and others experts in the world in several aspects of energy materials opening possibilities of valuable discussions of new concepts, trends and technologies of energy conversion and storage and is also a valuable opportunity to strength on-going collaborations, prospect new collaborations and build-up research networks.


Abstracts will be solicited in (but not limited to) the following areas


  • Nanostructured carbon materials applied to energy storage and conversion
  • Materials for hydrogen storage (metal hydrides, MOFs, zeolites, conducting polymers, etc.) and storage of other gas fuels
  • Quantum dots, nanowire, nanoparticles and other nanostructures for energy conversion and storage
  • Characterization techniques for energy materials
  • First principle approaches in materials for energy storage and conversion
  • Thermodynamic properties of materials for energy storage and conversion
  • Reaction kinetics in energy materials
  • Energy storage and conversion devices and smart grids
