III SBPMat Meeting
3rd BRAZILIAN MRS MEETING

From October 10 to 13 in Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná State, Brazil – Hotel Bourbon

More and more the professionals of Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Mathematics, and Engineering areas are compelled to express their points of view on different technical subjects, causing the need for discussion among professionals exhibiting basic knowledge in a growing number of fields and devoted to solve the problems of the modern society.

Due to globalization and total quality management requirements of the industries, universities, and research institutes, a new class of professionals is being requested by the productive and academic sectors. Therefore the III SBPMat Meeting aims at improving the interaction between the different areas of knowledge.

The several specialties of Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry, as well as all areas of knowledge have modernized, creating new computerized techniques of analysis, increasing the reliability of the results, turning information more dynamic and consequently improving the knowledge of nature phenomena related to the environment and new materials.

At the same time, empirical knowledge has been updated, changing into empirical models. These empirical models, allied with modern modeling techniques, have allowed a greater interchange of knowledge among the different fields of knowledge.

On the other hand, the interdisciplinarity placed side by side Chemistry, Physics, the specialties of Engineering and Biology, which in a second stage strongly interact with Mathematics (molecular modeling). Thus, surges the need of symposia and workshops that can complement the research knowledge and foster a broader discussion aiming at an objective assimilation of the huge current scientific production. Concomitantly, knowledge must be focused with the goal of leading to a better integration between university and the different productive sectors.

The growing importance of State Solid Chemistry and the Environment Sciences, which are strongly related to Physics, Chemistry, and Engineering is not accompanied by specialized books, due to the great amount of information that upsurges every day. Therefore, this symposium and workshop are fully justified, offering lectures by invited specialists from Brazil and abroad, with the main purpose of creating new perspectives to chemists, physicists, biologists, mathematicians, and engineers, and also with the goal of making available all this new information. Due to the dimensions of the theme, punctual situations will be analyzed.

The III SBPMat Meeting will be composed of thematic symposia and interdisciplinary workshops, tackling frontier subjects and/or subjects interesting to our community. The Meeting will be held during three days, with two or three members of the Organizing Committee. In the Call for Papers of this Meeting, each symposium will briefly present its context and claims, asking for contributions within the presented theme.
